Jo Ann Smith Harris, age 90, of Slaton, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2024.

Viewing will be 11:00 am-6:00 pm on Monday, December 16, 2024, followed by a visitation at 6:00 pm at Englunds Chapel.  Funeral Services will be at 10:30 am Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at Englunds Chapel. Interment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in Southland, Texas. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.

Jo Ann was born on September 24, 1934, the youngest of seventeen children, in Goree to Elmer and Cora Trimble. She moved with her family to Southland in 1943, where she attended school. She married Tuney Basinger in 1952 in Clovis and they lived in Post. He passed away in 1968 and she moved to Slaton. She worked for a brief time at Pauline’s Flowers once she got to Slaton. She then married Virgil Smith in 1969, and he passed away in December of 1997. Later she met William “Butch” Harris, and they exchanged vows on September 16, 2016 in Slaton. Jo Ann was a wonderful Homemaker and loved to shop and travel and was an accomplished seamstress. She attended Trinity Church in Lubbock and was a member of the Prime Timers Sunday School Class.

She is preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, and nine sisters.

Jo Ann is survived by her husband, William “Butch” Harris; her daughter, Nancy Wallace and her husband, Dicky of Post; her son, Ray Basinger of Crowell; her daughters,  Carla Stricklin and her husband, Geron of Slaton, Lea Ann Radkey and her husband, Tim of McKinney; her sister, Joy Lester of Amarillo; her brother, Bobby Trimble of Midland; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family suggest memorials to Resthaven Cemetery in Southland, Texas.
