Joe Roy Rivas, Jr., 51, of Slaton, passed away on October 14, 2025.

Viewing will be from 11-6 on Monday, October 20, 2025 at Englunds Chapel. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. at Englunds Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 21, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Slaton. Interment will follow at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton.

Joe was born on September 23, 1974 in Lubbock to Joe Roy and Rebecca Rivas. He graduated from Slaton High School in 1993 and then graduated from Kaplan College with degrees in CNA, CMA and EKG. He worked in the medical field for about 7-8 years, with part of that time being at Vista Care.  At a young age, he had helped his father with farming, so he went back to farming after leaving the medical field. Joe was a big San Francisco 49ers and University of Texas fan and enjoyed watching football and playing football video games.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Joe is survived by his daughters, Justice Rivas and Andrew Torres of Lubbock, and Jasmine Rivas of Slaton; his son, Joe Roy Rivas, III of Lubbock; his sisters, Cynthia Maldonado and her husband, Ben of Slaton, Beatrice Rivas of Lubbock, Rosemary Rivas of Slaton, Ida Beascochea and her husband, Mario of Pueblo, CO., and Irma Martinez and her husband, Joe of McPherson, KS.; his brother, David Rivas of Roswell, NM.; and four grandchildren
