John Keith Hewlett, Sr. age 90 passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 in Lubbock, TX.

There will be a gathering of friends and loved ones at John’s shop at 129th and Avenue J Friday, September 12th at 9:00 a.m. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.

John was born on June 22, 1935. He graduated from Wilson High School in Wilson, TX, after which he worked at Sears for 35 years.

A passion for old cars--especially the Kaiser Fraizer Allstate automobiles made by Sears—fueled his friendships and free time. In 1983, John and other friends started the Nifty ‘50s Car Club in Lubbock, where he formed fast friendships that lasted the rest of his life. Old cars and old friends were key parts of John’s life until the end. John will be remembered for his dry wit and his kind heart.

John is survived by his wife, Sandra Sue Hewlett of Lubbock, his daughter, Pam Hewlett of Lubbock, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father J.P. Hewlett and his son, John Keith Hewlett, Jr.
