John was then one of the team in Lubbock to help form our system of ambulance services and safety codes. After years with AID and EMS he and his badge retired from a difficult but rewarding job. Involvement with bus transport in Roswell, NM came next.                 In 1988, He married Marianne Forrest. They were blessed with 2 sons, Tanner and Zane. In 2007 he began the process of creating a home in the country outside Slaton, Texas where he spent the rest of his life with friends, family, stoves and lots of other work and travel.
