Johnny R. Peralez, Sr.

Johnny R. Peralez, Sr., 68, of Slaton, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2020.

Rosary will be said at 6:00 pm Friday, August 7, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Slaton. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am Saturday, August 8, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Slaton. Interment will follow in Englewood Cemetery in Slaton. Arrangements are under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton. Due to social distancing and seating on every other pew, seating is limited. 

Johnny was born February 8, 1952 in Slaton to Maximiliano and Pauline Peralez. He married Mary Ruiz in Slaton on April 22, 1972. Johnny was known by his friends as Kennedy since high school. He worked for Funk’s Seed Company for 25 years. He later worked as a custodian for Roosevelt Schools. Johnny loved motorcycles, classic cars, and music, especially Elvis Presley.

He is preceded in death by his father.

Johnny is survived by his wife, Mary of Slaton; his mother, Pauline Peralez of Slaton; his daughters, Linda Peralez and husband, Bobby Escobedo of Slaton, Leslie Serpa and husband, B.J. of Lubbock;  his sons, Johnny Peralez Jr. and wife, Franchesca of Slaton, Benny Peralez of Slaton, Jerry Peralez and wife, Christina of Lubbock, Michael Peralez of Slaton; his sisters, Alice Garza of Slaton, Martha Lopez of Lubbock; his brothers, Max Peralez Jr. and wife, Sylvia of Slaton, Freddy Peralez Sr. and wife, Rosa of Lubbock, Charles Peralez of Slaton, Larry Peralez and wife, Joann of Slaton;  fourteen grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
