Jose D. Campos, 95, of Slaton, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2024

Viewing will be 11:00 am-6:00 pm Thursday, August 29, 2024, followed by a Rosary Service at 6:00 pm at Englunds Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am Friday, August 30, 2024, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Slaton.  Interment will follow at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.

Jose was born on January 1, 1929, in Irapuato, Guanajuato, Mexico to Isaac and Elpidia Lona. He moved to Laredo in 1949 and was working on a ranch when he met Maria Jaramillo, and they were married in 1950. He worked as a laborer before going to work at the gin in Acuff in 1980, retiring as the foreman. Jose was an active member and faithful servant at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Slaton for more than 32 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Jose is survived by his wife, Maria of Slaton; his daughters, San Juanita Renshaw and her husband, Craig of Slaton, Leticia Garcia of Idalou and Rosa Garcia of Laredo; his sons, Jose Campos Jr. and his wife, Susana of Houston and Edward Campos and his wife, Diana of Slaton; 15 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
