Joseph Irwin, 77, of Lubbock formerly of Slaton, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2021.
Viewing will be 9:00-10:00 am Saturday, February 13, 2021 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3211 58th St. Lubbock. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Saturday, February 13, 2021 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Burial will follow in Englewood Cemetery in Slaton. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton. Social Distancing and mask are required at the church. The church has a limited capacity of fifty persons.
Joseph was born November 19, 1943 in Talladega, Alabama to Jesse and Susie Irwin. Joseph is an Army Veteran where he served in Vietnam and was wounded. He married Estela Camacho May 2, 1977 in Laredo. They were also married in the Mesa Arizona Temple on March 31, 1988. They moved from Alabama to Corpus Christi in 2004 and then moved to Slaton in 2006. Joseph was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as librarian. He never met a stranger and loved talking to people.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and two sisters and one son Kris Steven.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Estela of Lubbock; his sons, Michael Irwin, Joseph L. Irwin and Bryan Irwin all of Lubbock; his daughter, Merry Watson and husband, Mark of Moore, Oklahoma; his sisters, Miriam Irwin of Tucson, Arizona and Ruth Irwin of Pell City, Alabama; two grandchildren and four great- grandchildren.
