Josephine Benavidez

Josephine Benavidez, 77, of Wilson, passed away on November 13, 2023.

Visitation will be 11:00 am-6:00 pm Thursday, November 16, 2023, at Englunds, followed by a 6:00 pm Rosary Service. Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am Friday, November 17, 2023, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Wilson. Interment will follow at Green Memorial Park in Wilson. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.

Josephine was born on May 8, 1946, in Robstown to Ramon and Anita Castro. She graduated from New Home High School in 1964.  On January 30, 1965, she married Servando Benavidez. She graduated from Jessie Lee Beauty School in 1966. Josephine was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Servando passed away on January 15, 2022, and they celebrated 57 years of marriage. She enjoyed sewing stockings for families, working in the yard and hoeing weeds, and watching Wheel of Fortune.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her brother, Ricky Castro.

Josephine is survived by her daughters, Patricia Castro and her husband, Alex, and Pamela Michelle Riojas and her husband, Timmy, all of Lubbock; her sister, Hilma Salinas of Lubbock; her brothers, Ramon Castro Jr. and Lee Castro; five grandchildren, Steffen Jordon Perez, Skylar Joe Perez, Timothy Cole Riojas, Brooklyn Sky Castro, and Mia Chanel Castro; and one great-grandchild, Aylei Perez.
