Josh Valdez, age 36, of Slaton, entered into eternal life peacefully on March 21, 2025 with his loving mother at his side.

A rosary will be said at 6:30 pm Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at Englund chapel in Slaton, Texas.  A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am, Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Slaton. The inurnment will follow at Englewood Cemetery. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.

Josh was born on March 3, 1989 in Lubbock, Texas. He was nurtured in a home with his mother, grandparents and uncles who were privileged to watch him grown up into a man who was caring, generous, humorous, passionate and kind.  His Catholic education at St. Jospeh’s

School further formed him in faith. He lived his faith in a way that was not necessarily confined to a Church community.  His faith was expressed in his intense drive to be of service to those in need.  Josh inherited the ability to fix just about anything from his grandfather Thomas and was generous with is self-taught skills with anyone who needed help. He shared what he had and what he could do with sincere servant’s heart.  His work family at Livingston Hearing Aid Center were the recipients of his skills, his heart, and his support.  He did his job with purpose because he knew he was being of service to someone who needed it.  

All who knew Josh were touched by his genuine approach to living life with passion and kindness.  In his battle with cancer, he was still able to touch people with his kindness and concern for them that left them feeling appreciated, seen and valued.  His life made such a difference to many and the blessing he was, will remain in many hearts.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Thomas Valdez and Placido Hernandez, his stepfather, Tony Hernandez, his uncle, Johnny Hernandez, and his cousin, Juan Jr. Rodriquez.

Josh leaves, to cherish his memory, his mother, Sandra Hernandez; grandmothers, Mary Valdez and Josephine Hernandez; his aunt, Delia Hernandez; and his uncles, Jesse Valdez of Slaton, John Valdez of Amarillo, Robert Hernandez of Lubbock and Carlos Hernandez and his wife, Dorsha Miranda of Lubbock.
