Juanita "Nita" Conner

Juanita “Nita” Conner, 95, of Slaton, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2022 in Ponca City, OK.

Viewing will be 11:00 am to 6:00 pm Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at Englunds. Visitation will follow 6:00-7:00 pm at Englunds Chapel. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 am Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at Bible Baptist Church in Slaton.  Interment will follow at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service.

Nita was born April 4, 1927 in Sudan to Stephen and Lillie Saunders. She accepted the Lord as her personal savior at the age of seven. Her family moved to Pep, Texas in 1940 and she graduated from Pep High School in 1944. She married Bobby Conner on October 26, 1946 in Clovis, NM, where they lived for two years before living in McAlester, Lubbock, and Clovis over the next few years and then moved to Slaton in 1957. They moved to Temple in 1970 and then returned to Slaton in 1989.  She had been in Ponca City since 2020.  She had been a member of Bible Baptist Church in Slaton since 1957, where she was a Sunday School teacher and was active in the Young at Heart Sunday School Class. She loved sports, the Texas Rangers, and the Dallas Cowboys and loved to fish. 

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Rex Lee Conner; and 15 siblings, of which she was the youngest.

Nita is survived by her daughters, Paula Roberts and her husband, Danny of Slaton and Deborah  Parker and her husband, Larry of Slaton; her sons, Ray Conner and his wife, Linda of Cheyenne, OK and Stephen Conner and his wife, Dawn of Ponca City, OK; her daughter-in-law, Brenda Conner; 27 grandchildren; 75 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
