Kim was born on September 22, 1956 in Pauls Valley, OK to Earl Glenn Archer and Melba Golda Archer and grew up in Spearman. When he was in high school, his family moved to Buffalo Springs Lake and he and his dad opened Buffalo Springs Riding Stables.  He continued to operate the stables for many years until it closed. He then began an estimated 20-year career managing Discount Tire Company in Lubbock. Afterwards, he went to work for York Tires, which became Bill Williams Tire Center and he retired in December of 2025.  He had moved to Ruidoso three years prior and had actually continued to work remotely in phone sales for the tire center. While working in the tire business, in 1997, he reopened the horse stable with his son, Dustin and his nephew, Rush Archer, and it was open for about three years. Throughout his life, he was always the go to uncle and friend to his nieces and nephews in their times of need, even if it was just a quick, humorous phone call. Kim will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Kim loved camping and talking to his friends on the phone. He had achieved his lifetime goal of retiring to Ruidoso.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sharla Archer; his sister, Nelda Jean “Jeannie” McDaniel; his brothers, Bill and Larry Archer; his nephew, Brandon McDaniel; and his brother-in-law, Ray Taylor.

Kim is survived by his daughter, Haylee Archer of Ruidoso; his son, Dustin Archer and his spouse, Alex Sauceda of Ruidoso; his stepdaughters, Alisha Williams of Lubbock, and Gayla Green and her husband, Billy of Slaton; his sisters, Katie Taylor of Lubbock, and Mae Dean Reed of Sheridan, Wyoming; his brothers, Jimmy Archer and his wife, Nancy of Orange, TX, Gary Archer and his wife, Lavon of Pauls Valley, OK, Donny Archer and his wife, Doris of El Paso, Glenn Archer of Las Vegas, NV, and Robert Archer and his wife, Kim of Buffalo Springs Lake, TX; his sister-in-law, Glenna Archer of Lubbock; five grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and cousins; many great nieces and nephews; and his fat head dog, Jax.
