Lee “Cleno” Garza, Jr., 79, of Slaton, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2026.

Viewing will be held from 11:00 am-6:00 pm Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Englunds Chapel, followed by a 6:00 pm Rosary Service. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am Friday, February 13, 2026 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Slaton. Interment will follow at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton. Arrangements are under the care of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.

Cleno was born on July 13, 1946 in Rosebud, Texas to Lee and Mercedes Garza. He married Julia Hernandez and they shared 53 wonderful years of marriage before her passing in 2016. Cleno worked many years at the gravel pit before retiring in 1994. He stayed active and healthy by faithfully walking on his treadmill. Cleno was a simple man who loved God above all.  He enjoyed playing bingo, fishing and listening to music, and he was a devoted Dallas Cowboy fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Julia Hernandez-Garza; his sister, Lupe Valderaz; and his brothers, Ramon, Joe Manuel, Leonard, Jesse, Alfonso, and Rufus Garza.  

Cleno is survived by his sisters, Ann Vidaurre of Lubbock, Janie De Leon and her husband Louis of Midland, and Eva Diaz and her husband, Mike of Slaton; his nieces, Erica Garza and her family, and Julie Aguirre of Slaton, along with Julie’s sons; his great- nephews, Gavin and Ezekial Garcia; with whom he shared a close bond; as well as many other cherished nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.
