Loretta Abbe

On August 15, 2023, Loretta Jo Abbe, of Amarillo Texas, joined Daddy, Mama, and brother Kevin in their Heavenly home.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, 10:00 a.m. Aug. 26, 2023, at Green Memorial Park Cemetery in Wilson, Texas, immediately followed by a 10:30 am Memorial Service at St. John Lutheran Church in Wilson.  Rev. Tonda Freitag will officiate.

Loretta was born May 24,1974 to Buster and Reda Abbe in Post, Texas. Loretta graduated from Wilson High School in 1992. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from West Texas A&M University in December 1998.

Known as “Lolo” to her coworkers, Loretta spent over 25 years working as a meat grader for the USDA. Most recently, she graded at the Amarillo Tyson Meat plant since 2003.

Her younger relatives knew her as “Aunt Retta,” and she loved to spoil them. Those who will cherish her memory include numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.  Loretta had countless friends, most notably her dear life-long friend, Becky Arellano Contreras, and her family along with her friend and college roommate, Vanessa Shaw and her daughters who also considered her their “Aunt Retta.”

Memorials can be made to Green Memorial Cemetery or St. John Lutheran Church, both in Wilson, Texas, or to a favorite charity.

Directions to Green Memorial Park are:  From Lubbock, take Hwy 87 South about 10 miles, turn left at Fm 211, go about 5.5 miles to the town of Wilson, turn right at Hwy 400, go 2 miles, the cemetery sits on the right-hand side of the road.  St. John Lutheran Church is located at 1305 Dickson Ave in Wilson.
