Services for Mack Harmon, 82, of Idalou will be held at 10am Saturday, December 20, 2025 at Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton. Mack passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2025, ending his struggle with dementia.

 Mack Harmon was born July 10, 1943, in Lubbock to Ralph and Faye Harmon. He was third-generation cotton farmer and lifelong member of Idalou community. Mack was extremely proud of his family heritage and his part in achieving the Texas Dept. of Agriculture recognition of being a Texas Centennial Farm. The State of Texas presents this award to family farms with one hundred years of continuous ownership and operation. Mack’s grandfather bought the home place south of Idalou in 1920. After J. R. Harmon’s early passing in 1927, twelve-year-old Ralph Harmon began working on the farm and eventually, Mack.  We are eternally grateful for all our family’s work and sacrifice to make this happen. A major milestone in his life was the Lubbock County Historical Commission placing a State of Texas Historical Marker at the homeplace in 2023.

It is estimated that Mack has given away nearly 10,000 jars of honey. It is hard to know for sure as he lost count about twenty years ago. I am sure many of you have received one and I hope you enjoyed it as much as he did giving it to you.

This was a man who loved his family and supported them in every endeavor.  He was proud of all their accomplishments and bragged endlessly on them.

Mack was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Rodney, the mother of his sons, Rita, his son, Marc, and his grandson, Jett.

Mack is survived by his best friend, Barbara Harrington, Scott Harmon and his wife, Amanda, their son, Guy Harmon, Jay Harmon and his wife, Dana, their son, Jared, daughter, Abby, and son, Ryan and his wife, Lexi.

The family is especially grateful to Barbara for the love and companionship she showed Mack all these years taking care of him. Special thanks to Rey and Armando Robledo for helping Mack over thirty years.  In Lieu of any flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to the Idalou Meals on Wheels.
