Maria Rita Campos, 92 of Slaton, passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2026.

Viewing will be from 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at Englunds Chapel, followed by a 6:00 pm Rosary Service. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am Thursday, July 9, 2026 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Slaton.  Interment will follow at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Services in Slaton.

Rita was born on May 22, 1934 in Houston to Gil and Tomasa Jaramillo. She grew up in Laredo, which is where she met Jose Campos, and they were married  in 1950. They moved to Acuff  in the 80’s and then moved to Slaton about twenty years ago. Maria was a loving, caring homemaker. She was an active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Slaton and served as a Guadalupana and Cursillista. She was always cooking and baking and helping with the church or her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, one sister, one brother, and two sons-in-law, Craig Renshaw, and Jose Arturo Garcia.

Rita is survived by her daughters, San Juanita Renshaw of Slaton, Leticia Garcia of Idalou, and Rosa Garcia of Laredo; her sons, Jose Campos, Jr. and his wife, Susana of Houston, and Edward Campos and his wife, Diana of Slaton; 15 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
