Maria "Jessie" Garcia

Maria “Jessie” Garcia, 94, of Slaton, peacefully left to be with our Lord on Tuesday, April 21, 2020 while at her home.

Private graveside service will be held at Englewood Cemetery of Slaton.

Jessie was born on Sunday, January 17, 1926 in Waelder, Tx. to Augustin and Librada Maldonado. She lived in Slaton the majority of her life. Jessie was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She worked for Franklin Jewelers and Lerner’s in downtown Lubbock. Jessie was a caregiver for many years. Jessie loved to travel and collect dish plates. 

She did not have any children, but was a mother figure and aunt to many people, whose lives she touched.  

She is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; and six brothers.

Jessie is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
