Maria Lopez, 88, of Slaton, passed away Sunday, December 26, 2021.

Visitation will be 6:00-7:30 Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Englunds.    Funeral Services will be 10:00 am Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Slaton Apostolic Church.  Interment will follow in Englewood Cemetery in Slaton. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.

Maria was born January 1, 1933 in Victoria to Longino and Sabina Rivera.

She married Manuel Lopez and he became a pastor.  Together they served at Slaton Apostolic Church until his passing. She loved animals, gardening, being with her family, and listening to Coritos, Spanish Christian music.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister, Gregoria Montelongo; and her brother, Claudio Rivera.

Maria is survived by her daughters, Alicia Segovia and her husband, John Lee of Lubbock, and Lupe Sosa of Clute; her son Jesse Lopez and his wife, Brenda of Slaton; her sisters, Ernestina Villanueva of Lubbock, and Eulalia Guevara of Lincoln, NE; her brothers, Lorenzo Rivera and his wife, Alicia of Lubbock, and Anastacio Rivera and his wife, Dalila of Donna; 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
