Maria "Mary" Ruiz

Maria “Mary” Ruiz, 74, of Slaton, passed away Friday, January 15, 2021. 

Viewing will be 12-6 Sunday, January 17, 2020 at Englunds Chapel.

Graveside Services will be held at 10:30 am Monday, January 18, 2021 at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton.  Social distancing and mask are required at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.  

Mary was born February 6, 1946 in McAllen to Jesse and Elida Ponciano.  She was raised and attended school in Abernathy. She married Andrew Ruiz on October 10, 1965 in Slaton.  Mary went to work for Texas Instruments, now X-Fab, in 1976 and she retired after 42 years.  She loved hanging out with her grandchildren and was a great cook. She was famous for her dressing, cheesecake, tacos and her Big Red Cake.

She is preceded in death by her father; her brother, Luis Ponciano; and her granddaughter, Ashley Marie Ruiz.

Mary is survived by her husband; her daughters, Lisa Ruiz and Felix Martinez of Lubbock and Jessica Ruiz of Lubbock; her sons, Andy Ruiz, Jr. of Lubbock and Tommy Ruiz of Slaton; her mother, Elida Ponciano of Lubbock; five sisters; four brothers; eleven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
