Marilyn Pilkinton, 91, of Slaton, passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2020.
Graveside Services will be at 3:00 pm Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton. Arrangements are under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service. Masks are required at the church and the funeral home. Services will be live streamed on Englunds Funeral Service Facebook page.
Marilyn was born on June 22, 1929 in Hobart, Oklahoma to Edom and Grace Dixon. She moved with her family to Anton when she was nine months old. Marilyn graduated from Anton High School in 1946. She met Clarence R. Pilkinton in January of 1947 while they were working at Kress retail store in Lubbock. They married in Lubbock March 6, 1947, later moving to Slaton in 1977. After Clarence passed away on December 4, 1987, she moved to Ruidoso for a short period of time before moving back to Lubbock.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two granddaughters, Laycee Butler and Melissa McWhorter; her brother Marshall Dixon; and her sister Nadine Parker.
Marilyn is survived by her daughters; Jan Douglass of Lubbock, Kathy Poindexter and her husband Johnny of Lubbock, Lori Butler and her husband Larry of Stanton, and Noel Hughes and her husband Randy of Melissa, Texas; six grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to New Mexico Children’s Home or Meals on Wheels.
