Mary Ann Bowie Obituary

Mary Ann Bowie, 83, of Slaton, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2024.


Viewing will be 11:00 am -5:00 pm Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at Englunds. Graveside Services will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.


Mary Ann was born on January 29, 1941, in Lubbock to Thomas Jefferson and Ann Mae Coffman. While attending Monterey High School, a young man spotted her at his uncle’s grocery store. That young man, Byron Bowie, got her number, and 2 months later, the 16-year-olds were married on March 27, 1957, and were married for nearly 67 years.  She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved her family and her dogs, Charlie Brown and Peanut.


She is preceded in death by her parents, and her daughter, Renea Hopper.


Mary Ann is survived by her husband; her sons, B. L. Bowie, Jr. of San Angelo, and Earl Bowie of Slaton; her sister, Joyce Rodriguez and her husband, Johnny of Waxahachie; her brother, Tom Coffman and his wife, Linda of Rockwall; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
