Matthew Thomas Cruz, 22, of Krugerville, Texas, died on February 4, 2026, of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

A Family led Rosary Service will be held at 6:00 pm Sunday February 8th at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Slaton. Visitation will be at 10 am on Monday, February the 9th followed by an 11 am service at Englunds Funeral Service in Slaton.

Matthew was born on September 28, 2003 in Lubbock, Texas to Jeanette and Carlos Cruz. Matthew was a gentle soul who fiercely fought ROHHAD since the age of 5 and most recently battling cancer since 2024. He attended the University of North Texas (Go Mean Green) pursuing a degree in Audiology. He loved LEGOs, reading, art projects with mom, and his 2 buddies Shortie and Spike. He was also a collector of rocks and Knick knacks. Matthew was a gift to our family and blessed us through his acts of kindness.

Matthew is survived by Jeanette and Carlos Cruz, Grandparents John and Florence Ruiz, Grandparents Joe and Manuela Cruz, Aunt Lydia Cruz and Uncle Vince Cruz, and an abundance of extended family and friends.
