Max Jackson

February 9, 1928 ~ November 28, 2021 (age 93)


Max Jackson, 93, of Lubbock, passed away Sunday, November 28, 2021.

Visitation will be 6:00-7:30 pm Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at the funeral home. Memorial Services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Hearts Together Church of Christ in Slaton. A Family Graveside Service will take place prior to the Memorial Service at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service. 

Max was born February 9, 1928 in Lubbock to Elza D. and Gladys Jackson. He graduated from Southland High School in 1945 and married Mary Jane Hampton on February 9, 1946 in Clovis. They celebrated 70 years of marriage in 2016 before her passing.  He was a cotton gin manager for many years and was involved in many industry organizations. He served as an executive board committee member for the Texas Cotton Ginners Association and was on the founding board of trustees for the Texas Cotton Ginners Trust. He managed the McClung Co-op and the gin in Earth, Texas before moving to the Union Co-op Gin in 1974, which he retired from in 1998.  He was a member of Hearts Together Church of Christ in Slaton and served as a deacon and an elder. His laugh was contagious and he loved his family and friends and being around people.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his son, Don Jackson; his brother, E. D. Jackson; and his sister, Betty Ann Duncan.

Max is survived by his son, Dan Jackson and his wife, Michele of Brownfield; his daughter-in-law, Kelly Jackson of Keller; his grandchildren, Emma and Kylee Jackson, Greg Jackson, Hayley Tarango and her husband, Anthony, and Carrie Hennrikus and her husband, Brenton; his great-grandson, Cameron; and his special friend, LaVerne Davis. 

The family suggest memorials to Children’s Home of Lubbock or the Meadow Museum in Meadow, Texas.
