Maxine Gattis Duncan Obituary

Maxine Gattis Duncan, 101, of Lubbock, passed away on Monday, August 18, 2025.


Graveside Services will be at 10:30 Thursday 21, 2025 at Englewood Cemetery. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.


Maxine was born on March 25,1924 in Slaton to William Carroll and Temple Francis Gattis. She worked as a secretary for various banks in Lubbock and was an executive secretary for Time Motor Freight. As a member of the greatest generation, she helped assemble Catalina seaplanes in California during WWII.  Maxine was a true follower of Christ and devout prayer warrior.


She is preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, DaOnne Johnson; and her brother, Medwin Gattis


Maxine is survived by her daughter, Denice Beard of Conroe, her son, Jim Duncan and his wife, Karen of Lubbock, six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren.
