Mazie’s life was defined by her love of the Lord and her unwavering dedication to her church, fellow Christians and family. She was a sage advisor, bible class teacher and a mentor to women of all ages.
She married Weldon Wallace Becker on June 19, 1953, about a month after she graduated from Slaton High School. They had a small home wedding at her parents’ home. They had three children, Lynn Becker (Kim), Stephen Becker (Julee), and Neal Becker (Lisa). They purchased a farm in Floyd County and moved 9 miles south of Floydada on January 3, 1963. They would farm there until after 33 years of marriage, Weldon passed on December 5, 1986.
From great sadness, she began a period of great happiness when at 12 noon January 14, 1989, in the Wall Street parlor in Floydada, she and Don Paul Hegi were united in marriage. She had been given three sons, but with her marriage to Don she learned to love and appreciate three more sons, Don Jr. Hegi (Karen), Mark Hegi (Cheryl), Alan Hegi (Jan) and a daughter, Charlotte Young (Jim). Together they had 20 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren.
Mazie was proceeded in death by her parents; her first husband, Weldon, her second son Stephen and her husband Don.
