Micaela G. Cardenas, 90, of Slaton, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2025. 

A Family Led Celebration of Life Service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at Bible Baptist Church in Slaton. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.

Micaela was born in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico on August 7, 1934, to Cipriano and Petra Gonzales, where she attended school. She studied cosmetology in Monterey, Mexico. Micaela met Eli Cardenas in Nuevo Laredo, and they were married on May 14, 1955. Shortly after, they moved to Slaton, where they lived before moving to San Antonio in 1967. There she worked for San Antonio School District for 22 years.  In 2015, they moved back to Slaton.

Micaela was a dedicated Christian and volunteered in many areas of church work. She was a wonderful cook and loved visiting with people.  She joyfully welcomed friends and family into her home.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Juanita Gonzales, and her brother, Cipriano Gonzales, Jr.

Micaela is survived by her husband, Eli; her sons, Ben Munoz and his wife, Nora of Slaton,  David Cardenas and his wife, Gracie of Lubbock, Alex Cardenas and his wife, Bea of Lubbock, and Adam Cardenas and his wife, Janelle of Ft. Worth; her sisters, Sylvia Lopez of Laredo and Josephina Gonzales of San Antonio; her brother, Martin Gonzales of San Antonio; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
