Michael Kirkpatrick, 73, of Slaton, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2023.

Viewing and visitation will be 1-2:00pm Sunday June 25, 2023 followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00pm at Englunds Chapel. No viewing prior to visitation. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service in Slaton.

Mike was born on March 28, 1950 in Plainview to Clifton and Maurine Kirkpatrick. He graduated from Plainview High School. He married Carolyn Benton on June 14, 1970 in Lorenzo and they moved to Slaton in 1977 so he could begin his career as an Engineer, working for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. He retired in 2012. Mike loved working in his backyard and was proud to have won Yard of the Month.  He spent his spare time helping others with home projects, and enjoyed travel, woodworking, lunches, and coffee with his friends. Mike was a member of the Slaton Masonic lodge, serving in various capacities including Worshipful Master.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Alvina Cooper of Hobbs, a brother Marvin of Plainview; and a sister-in-law, Carol Lee of Columbia, TN.

Mike is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carolyn; his son, Joshua Kirkpatrick of Slaton; his sister, Margo Laymon and her husband, Tex of Lubbock; and his brothers, Mark Kirkpatrick of Abernathy and Gary Lee of Columbia, TN
