Mildred Denzer Obituary

Mildred Denzer, 98, of Slaton, passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2025.


Viewing will be 11:00 am to 6:00 pm on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at Englunds Chapel, followed by a Rosary Service at 6pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at  10:00 am Thursday, October 16, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Slaton. Interment will follow at Englewood Cemetery.


Mildred was born on July 1, 1927 in Slaton to Hugo and Hattie Piwonka. She attended St. Joseph School in Slaton, riding with her two brothers on a horse to get there each morning. She married Alphonse August Denzer on February 17, 1947 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Slaton. She was a loving wife and mother, and a big supporter of her husband on the farm. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters. She prayed the rosary faithfully every day.  Mildren loved gardening, growing her flowers, and quilting with her quilting group at St. Joseph Catholic Church.


She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her brothers, Milton and J.L. Piwonka.


Mildred is survived by her daughters, Gloria Echols and her husband, Ronald of Weatherford; Dianne Nelson of Lubbock; her sons, Calvin Denzer and his wife, Starlie of New Deal and Johnny Denzer of Slaton; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
