Neri Garcia Obituary

Neri Garcia, 73, of Slaton, passed away on July 10, 2026.


Viewing will be from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm, on Monday, July 13, 2026 at Englunds Chapel, followed by a Rosary Service at 6:00 pm. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Slaton. Interment will follow at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton.


Neri was born on May 26, 1953 in Rosebud, Texas to Marcello and Benita Tovar. She married Benito Garcia in 1970 ,and they celebrated 51 years of marriage before his passing in 2022. She was primarily a homemaker, but she did work for about 15 years in the school cafeteria at Roosevelt. She was a loving wife and  loving mother to her children, including Christian Garcia, who they raised since he was two weeks old. She enjoyed working word search puzzles and loved joking around with her family.


She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Benito; her daughter, Monica Rodriguez; her sister, Lola Tello; her brothers, Johnny R., Johnny A. and Sam Tovar; and her mother and father-in law, Felipe P. and Pedro G. Garcia.


Neri is survived by her daughters, Christina Garcia and Gracie Garcia, both of Lubbock; her son, Anthony Garcia, of Lubbock; her son-in-law, Josh Rodriguez; her sisters, Andrea Ledesma of Abernathy and Maria Garcia of Minnesota; her brother, Felix Tovar; 12 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
