Opal was born January 20, 1958 in Indianapolis, IN. To James and Rosemary Goodall. She spent many years running an in-home daycare, manager at Allsups, and working 17+ years for Covenant billing where she finally retired. Opal lived a full life, cherishing every moment and spending as much time as possible doing things she loved. In her younger years, she spent many weekends and nights on the back of a horse. She competed in many barrel races and play days. She married the love of her life in 1973. David and Opal spent 52 loving years in marriage. She shared her love of horses with her children, raising them on the back of a horse long before they were even able to walk. To her, this was a way of life. Later in life, as her family grew, Opal became known as Grandma. Which became her favorite role of all. Even when she was unable to ride, she made sure her grandbabies had horses and play days as well. She spent multiple days and weekends chasing her grandkids all over watching baseball, football, basketball, soccer, and gymnastics. She was truly their biggest fan of all. She even carried a rulebook in her purse.. To Grandma, family and her love for family meant everything. She loved cooking family dinners, camping trips, and giving the best hugs any of us have ever had. She always made sure her family was cared for and felt loved. She never met a stranger, and to know her, you instantly became family. She did this by her unwavering love and pursuit in the Lord. She shared her love in the lord by caring for others constantly. She faithfully attended church every Sunday, provided pot luck church meals, and making sure to pray for all those around her. Her kindness, loving heart, and bubbly personality will be greatly missed, but always remembered by the numerous memories created with those around her.
She is preceded in death by her parents. Opal is survived by her husband, David; her daughter, Jamie Davis of Lubbock; her son, Michael Davis and his wife, Staci of Shallowater; her grandchildren, Matthew, Ashley, Grayson, Weston, and Allie Mae; and several great-grandchildren.
