He was born in Hereford, Texas on August 28, 1957 to Ancil and Christene Jackson. He attended elementary and Junior High in Hurst-Euless-Bedford, then moved to San Angelo Texas where he graduated from San Angelo Lakeview in 1975.  He went on to play football at McMurray College in Abilene and then attended Angelo State University where he played basketball.  Post college, his coaching career extended from San Marcos to San Angelo and to Lubbock where he currently resided.  Orval began a new career in home improvement sales in Sacramento, California. His sales expertise continued until this day where he currently worked for Jones and Associates.  His competitive nature led him to play golf as a hobby. Nothing gave him more joy than watching his son play sports, spending time with family and going out to enjoy live music with friends on regular outings.
