Pat Kenney

Pat Kenney, 88, of Slaton, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2023.

Viewing will be 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Friday, May 19, 2023 at Englunds. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 pm Saturday, May 20, 2023 at First Baptist Church in Slaton. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.

Pat was born December 28, 1934 in Baird, Texas to Ray and Nina Hickman. She moved with her family to Slaton in 1935. Pat attended school in Slaton and graduated from Slaton High School. She married Alton Kenney November 25, 1953 in Slaton. She worked for Slaton ISD for 25 years and retired in 1990. Patricia, more affectionately known as Pat and Patsy, was a woman of principle and family values. An educator at heart, Pat enjoyed enriching the community through her work in the school system. When not improving the community, Pat, with her husband Alton, enjoyed dancing, bridge, cooking, crocheting, scrapbooking, and hosting gatherings of family and friends. Recognized by all for her warmth and love, she gave to all of those around her a family to be part of physically, emotionally and spiritually. Pat was a mother to everyone she met. Also known as Nane and Gamma to her grandchildren, she cherished her time with them.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and her sister, Nina Nesbit.

Pat is survived by her daughter, Cindy Corrigan of Lubbock, her sons, Dr. Dan Kenney and his wife, Andrea of Arlington and Kelton Kenney of Jupiter, Florida; her grandchildren Seth, Danielle, Ryan and Braden; and her great-grandchildren, Sarah, James, Samuel, Luke and Daniel.
