Petra Rocha Maldonado, 88, of Slaton, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024.

Viewing will be 11:00 am – 6:00 pm Monday, January 29, 2024, followed by Rosary Service at 6:00 pm at Englunds Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Slaton.  Interment will follow at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.

Petra was born on October 19, 1935, in Marlin, TX, to the late Profilio Rocha and Maria Natividad Rocha. She married Joaquin Maldonado on December 31, 1954, after moving to Slaton with her family at the age of 15. Petra was an active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and served as a Guadalupana for several years.

She is survived by her sons, Alex Maldonado of San Angelo, Fred Maldonado and wife Cindy of Boerne; daughters, Sylvia and husband Carlos Bentancourt, Angie Maldonado and husband James Anderson; and daughter-in-law Isabel Maldonado all of Slaton. Petra is also remembered by her brothers, Luis Rocha, Willie Rocha, and sister Lupe Collins of Houston.

Those also cherishing her memory are 24 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Petra is proceeded in death by husband Joaquin Maldonado, and sons, Ray, David, and Richard Maldonado.
