Rebecca O. Rivas

Rebecca O. Rivas, 77, of Slaton, passed away on November 4, 2023, in Pueblo CO.

Viewing, with family present, will be 1:00-6:00 pm Friday, November 10, 2023, at Englunds. Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Slaton. Interment will follow at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.

Rebecca was born on April 5, 1946, in San Antonio to Anastacio and Beatrice Olague. She attended schools in San Antonio.  She met Joe Roy Rivas when they were teens and were married in 1968. They moved to Slaton in 1974.  Life took them to other places as they traveled as migrant workers until they settled and opened Big’s Janitorial Service, which they operated until 2014.  Joe Roy Sr. passed in 2018. Rebecca enjoyed working in her yard and tending to her flowers.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband.

Rebecca is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Maldonado and her husband, Ben of Slaton, Beatrice Rivas of Lubbock, Rosemary Rivas of Slaton, Ida Beascochea and her husband, Mario of Pueblo, CO., and Irma Martinez and her husband, Joe of McPherson, KS; her sons, Joe Roy Rivas, Jr. of Slaton, and David Rivas of Roswell; her sisters, Yolanda Delgado, Elizabeth Olague, and Diana Sanchez and her husband, Roland, all of San Antonio; her brother, Alfonso Olague and his wife, Olivia of San Antonio; sixteen grandchildren; and thirty-one great-grandchildren.
