Obituary

Rita Haut, 73, of Slaton, passed away Saturday, July 15, 2023.

Memorial Services will be at 11:00 am Friday, July 21, 2023 at Bible Baptist Church in Slaton.  Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.

Rita was born on April 16, 1950 in Granbury to Harold and Margaret Sparkman. She married Marlin Payne March 1, 1969 and they had two children, Chip and Kacee. Marlin passed away December 3, 1987. Rita married Larry Haut on February 29, 1992. She loved working with flowers and worked and co-owned Becky’s Buds. Rita later worked for Slaton ISD as a teacher’s aide, retiring in January of 2020. She was known as Nana and well loved by all.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Harold Ray Sparkman and her sister, Dianne Sparkman Thomas.

Rita is survived by her husband, Larry; her son Chip and his wife, Jessica of Lubbock, her daughter, Kacee Payne of Slaton; her stepdaughters Becky Mowrey Johnson and Jodie Kelly; her grandchildren, Sonny Graves and his wife, Brittany of Slaton,  Typhanee Graves of Slaton, Julia Payne of Dallas, Emily Payne of Lubbock and Daniel Payne of Slaton ; and her great-grandchildren, Tourean, Devrah, Jaxon, Delynee, Mazy, and Agnes.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be made to Slaton Meals on Wheels.
