Roger Norman, 72, of Slaton, passed away on December 16, 2024.

Visitation will be 9:30-10:30 am, Friday, December 20, 2024, followed by Funeral Services at 10:30 am, at Englunds Chapel. Interment will follow at Terrace Cemetery in Post. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.

Roger was born on January 8, 1952 in Chicago, Illinois to Cecil and Lillian Johnson Norman. Roger graduated from Forest View High School in 1970. He continued his education with a Bachelor’s degree from Mississippi College in 1974 and a Master’s degree from Louisiana Tech in 1981.  While at Tech he met Deborah Causey, and they were married on May 30, 1981. Roger was a teacher and coach for over 42 years in Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas, retiring in 2010, when they moved to Slaton to be near their children. After retirement, he taught part time at Roosevelt and Wilson. Roger became a believer at an early age and was active in church leadership. He was a “girl dad” before it was cool and was a proud Grandpa to Hannah and Olivia.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Sharon Sharp.

Roger is survived by his wife, Deborah Norman; his daughters, Amy Abraham and her husband, Joseph of Post, and Rachel Norman of Lubbock; his grandchildren, Hannah and Olivia Abraham; his mother and father-in-law, Wayne and Patsy Causey of Ruston, LA.; his brothers-in-law, Larry Causey and his wife, Lisa of Ruston and Bill Sharp of Bastrop, TX.  Also, survived by several nieces and nephews.
