Ronnie Lee Kennedy, age 87, of Slaton, passed away on April 26, 2025.

Private Graveside Services were held on April 29, 2025 at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held sometime in the future. Arrangements were made by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.

Ronnie was born on April 24, 1938 in Post to Pete and Eva Mae Kennedy. Ronnie was a resident of Library of Legacies in Slaton, alongside his wife, where they have received warm and friendly care. Ronnie graduated from Post High School and moved to Slaton.  He attended West Texas State College and played football.  He returned to Slaton, and he married Alma Jean Winn.  They celebrated more than 67 years of marriage.

Ronnie worked as an electrician for Southwestern Public Service and retired after 38 years. In his spare time, he was a volunteer fireman for Slaton and was a little league coach.  He was very invested in his grandchildren, Kamryn and Braeden Gibbs, and enjoyed going to all their sporting events.

Ronnie was a member of First Baptist Church.  He took pride in the fact that he was a wonderful caregiver, for his mother and his wife. He truly loved, and in this order, his wife, his truck, and his home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Freda Childress, and his brother, Wayne Kennedy.

Ronnie is survived by his wife, Alma Jean Kennedy; his daughters, Chris Kennedy of Slaton, and Anisa Gibbs and her husband, Reggie of Lubbock; and his grandchildren, Kamryn and Braeden Gibbs.
