Roy Franklin, 75, of Slaton, passed away Sunday, October 9, 2022.
Viewing will be 11:00 am- 6:00 pm Thursday, October 13, 2022 with a visitation following from 6:00-7:00 pm at Englunds. Funeral Services will be 10:30 am Friday, October 14, 2022 at Bible Baptist Church in Slaton. Interment will follow at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.
Roy was born in Honey Grove, Texas on September 1, 1947, to Ray and Mary Franklin. He quit school to join the U.S. Air Force, serving in from 1965-1971 part of time being in Vietnam. Roy was an aircraft mechanic and a Vietnam veteran. When he met Marlene he had two children and she had five. They were married and he happily became a father to Marlene’s five children and later they had a daughter together. He was the true definition of a father. Roy was a truck driver and ended his career driving for Walmart. His greatest passion was driving and his grandchildren. Roy enjoyed traveling with the love of his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Betty Jo Ledford; his brothers, Eugene and Billy Ray Franklin; his daughter, Cindy Franklin and his grandson, Christopher Dean Franklin.
Roy is survived by his wife, Marlene of Slaton; his daughters, Patti Whitehead and her husband, Johnny of Tow, Stephanie Akeroyd and her husband, Robbie of Lubbock, Misty Wagner of Slaton, Shirley Franklin of Slaton, and Natalie Putz of Caldwell; his sons, Jerry, and his wife,Tiffany of Slaton and Jimmy Franklin of Lubbock; his sister, Angie Dickson and her husband, Tracy of Lubbock; 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
