Roy Isham

June 23, 1947 ~ March 3, 2022 (age 74)


Roy D. Isham, 74, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2022.

Funeral Service will be at 10:30 am Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wilson. Interment will follow at Green Memorial Park Cemetery in Wilson. There will be no viewing.  Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.

Roy was born June 23, 1947 in Lamesa to Charles and Nancy Isham. He graduated from Tahoka High School in 1967. He entered the U. S. Army October 16, 1967 and served his country in Korea, Germany, Vietnam.  He married Sharon Herzog on June 22, 1971 and they were blessed with three children. They were stationed in Fort Carson, Colorado.  Roy was a Bronze Star recipient and was honorably discharged April 30, 1975. After the army he returned to Wilson to farm. He served on the Wilson ISD School Board, was member of the Lions Club and served in many leadership roles at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Roy retired from the city of Wilson in 2007 where he served the citizens of Wilson as their Water Superintendent for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, and golfing. He was lovingly known as Pop, Pop the Magnificent and Popadopolis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Charles and Jerry and his sisters, Nancy Blake and Tommie Nicolay. 

Roy is survived by his wife, his daughter, Malinda Dunlap and her husband, Steven of Springdale, AR; his sons, Joshua Isham and his wife, Jessi of Wilson and Bryan Isham of Lubbock; his sister, Linda Sisson and her husband, Ed of Fruitvale, Tx. and nine grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Nathan and Jonathan Dunlap, Ryan, Abigal and Samantha Isham and Parker, Ava and Wyatt Holeman.

Special thanks to Hospice of Lubbock, especially Peggy who walked with us throughout this journey.
