Roy Malone

Roy Douglas Malone, 81, of Slaton, passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2023.

No services are planned at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.

Roy was born on February 4, 1942, in Slaton to Denvil and Liller Mae Malone. He attended schools in Slaton and joined the Air Force right out of high school.  He served for four years. He married Peggy Kieffer in Fort Worth in 1965.  He worked for Swift for several years before returning to Slaton and went to work for Texas Tech.  He retired after 17 years and went to work for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and retired after five years.  Roy was a family man who loved and took great care of his wife of 58 years, and he loved his kids and grandkids.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Francis Wilkins; and his brothers, Weldon, Kenneth, James, Jerry and Joe Malone.

Roy is survived by his wife, Peggy; his daughter, Stephanie Schat and her husband, Billy of Brownwood; his sons, Larry Smith of Slaton, and Roy Douglas Malone, Jr. and his wife, Cheryl of Arlington; five grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
