Ruby Lee (Moerbe) Koslan

Ruby Lee Moerbe Koslan, 90, of Slaton, passed away Monday, November 16, 2020.  Graveside Services will be 10:00 am Thursday, November 19, 2020 at Green Memorial Park Cemetery in Wilson.  Arrangements are under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.  Masks and social distancing are required at the graveside and the funeral home.  The service will be live streamed on Englunds Funeral Service Facebook page.

Ruby Lee Koslan was born January 25, 1930 to Oswald and Ida (Walter) Moerbe in Thorndale, Texas. She received the new birth of water and the Spirit in Holy Baptism at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale on February 16, 1930 where she was also confirmed in the faith on April 18, 1943.

She married Monroe Koslan on January 29, 1949 and their union was blessed with five children. In 1963 she and Monroe moved their family to the Gordon community near Post, Texas where they also joined other relatives at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wilson. They farmed side by side until their retirement in 1987 and moved to Slaton. She then became a caretaker to many in Slaton and the surrounding communities.

Lee was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is best remembered for her excellent cooking as well as her care for others. A devoted servant of her Lord Jesus, she spent several years serving as the congregation’s custodian.

Lee feel asleep in the arms of her Savior in the late afternoon of November 16, 2020 having lived on this earth 90 years, 10 months, and 22 days. Her soul already enjoys the glory of the Kingdom prepared for her by the grace of Christ. Her body shall await the resurrection of all flesh as it rests in the ground at Green Memorial Cemetery Park in Wilson, Texas.

Ruby Lee was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Monroe; her son-in-law Kurt Kitten and her siblings. Survivors include three sons; David (Trisha) of Plano, Mike (Vickie) of Slaton, Larry (Arla) of El Paso; two daughters, Mary (Bobby) Crowson of Topeka, Kansas and Bonnie Kitten of Slaton; twelve grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and a host of friends too numerous to number.
