Sandra Jones of Ransom Canyon, Texas passed peacefully at her home on August 5th, 2024.  Sandra was born in Renwick, Iowa on September 17, 1938.

A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held at a later date.

Growing up in Goldfield, Iowa Sandra excelled in basketball and was a proud member of the 1955 Goldfield High School girls’ varsity team which went on to win the Iowa state basketball tournament.  Soon after starting her own family, she moved south to Austin, Texas where she lived for three decades.  Sandra loved spending time with friends and family at the lakes around Austin enjoying swimming, boating and water skiing.  Sandra had a strong interest in politics which developed into a successful career working for the State of Texas as a Legislative Assistant for various elected officials. 

In 1992 she married Fred Jones and relocated to Ransom Canyon, Texas where she remained for the rest of her days.  Sandra brought her interest in politics with her to west Texas, serving as an Alderwoman for the Town of Ransom Canyon.  She helped with the annual Ransom Canyon Christmas Tour of Homes which is a popular annual event to help support the Ransom Canyon Chapel.  Sandra and husband Fred were avid supporters of Texas Tech University athletics and enjoyed attending basketball, baseball and football games together.

Sandra’s truest passion was her family, and she did her best work as a beloved wife, mother and grandmother.  She could always be counted on for love and support and had an impeccable sense of knowing when an extra dose of either was needed by those she loved.   

She will be missed more than words can say.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Fred Jones, Kemp Cass (son), Guy Jones (grandson) and her parents Robert and Maxine Whyte. 

Sandra is survived by her brothers Scott and Mike Whyte, her children (Steve Crow, Mary Crow, Jeff Crow, Ken Crow and wife Melissa, Tim Jones and wife Dawn, Richard Jones, Bob Cass and wife Brenda, Pam Beauchamp and partner James Ussery, and Jenna Cass), 19 Grandchildren and 27 Great-grandchildren.
