Sarah Ruiz Gonzales

Sarah Ruiz Gonzales, 65, passed away Monday, January 27, 2020.

Visitation will be 6:00-7:30 PM Thursday, January 30, 2020 at Englunds. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM Friday, January 31, 2020 at Bible Baptist Church in Slaton. Interment will follow in Englewood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service.

Sarah was born April 8, 1954 in Slaton to Guadalupe and Consuelo Ruiz. She graduated from Slaton High in 1973 and married Isaac Gonzales shortly after in Slaton.  She graduated from South Plains College as an L.V.N.  and worked at Covenant Hospital and later, the Slaton Care Center.  She became a single parent in 2007, raising her two daughters.  Sarah moved to Fort Worth in 2019 in hopes of receiving a liver transplant.  She loved reading, quilting, raking leaves, and gardening.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Manuela Arguello; and her brothers, Pablo R., Pete, Benito, and Edward Ruiz.

Sarah is survived by her daughters, Veronica and Valerie Gonzales of Slaton; her sisters, Josie Valdez and husband Dan, of Fort Worth, Mary Leyva of Slaton, and Teresa Guerra and husband, Tony Garza of Slaton; her brothers, Steve Ruiz and wife, Mary of Slaton, Jesse Ruiz and wife, Gloria of Buffalo, TX., Tony Ruiz and wife, Maria of Lubbock, and Lupe Ruiz and wife, Frances of Slaton; her grandchildren, Damien, Isaiah, and Mia Riojas; and 2 great-grandchildren.

The family suggest memorials be made to American Liver Foundation-Texas Division.
