Scharla Carolyn Johnston-Foryszewski passed away Saturday, November 13, 2021 after a brief illness at BSA Hospital in Amarillo.

At request of the family there will be no services. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.

Scharla was born to E H and Donita Johnston at Mercy Hospital in Slaton. She attended Southland and Slaton schools, graduating from Slaton in 1973. Scharla later graduated from Methodist Nursing School in Lubbock. She worked for TDJC, long-term care and home health companies in the Lubbock area. Scharla knew Jesus as her Savior and was a Christian. She enjoyed raising pomeranian dogs, collecting dolls, and gardening. Scharla married David “Ski” Foryszewski on October 31, 2005.

Scharla is preceded in death by her parents.

Scharla is survived by her husband; her daughter Shanna Melvyn and her husband, Matthew of Amarillo; her step-daughter Kriste Jones and her husband, Harold of Hughes Springs; her brothers Kevin Johnston and his wife, Kelly of Slaton and Steve Johnston and his wife, Alison of Lubbock; her sister Cristie Bradshaw and her husband, Tom of Amarillo; her sister-in-law Linda Foryszewski of Slaton; her grandchildren Jayde Childress, Cody Jones and his wife, Taylor and Colton Jones; and her great-grandsons Cooper Lane and Jackson Cody.
