Shirley Adams Obituary

Shirley Holland Savage Adams, 73, of Slaton, graduated to her heavenly home on Tuesday,
September 22, 2020.

The family will have a visitation Sunday, September 27 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Englunds.
Arrangements are under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM Monday, September 28, 2020, at Littlefield Cemetery in
Littlefield. At 12:00 PM, a celebration of life service will follow at the Posey Immanuel Lutheran
Church (US-84 and CR 3100). Masks are suggested.

Shirley was born December 28, 1946, in Wyoming to Harvey and Bessie (Lee) Holland. After her
mother passed away, Shirley was raised by her aunt and uncle Velma and Daily Howell of
Muleshoe, Texas. She graduated from Muleshoe High School in 1965. She married Ellis Dale
Savage of Littlefield in June 1965. They lived outside Willcox, Arizona, for a while before
returning to West Texas. Shirley worked for the Lamb Health Care Center previously known as
the Littlefield Hospital from 1974 to 2000. Dale preceded her in death on August 11, 1986. She
later married William (Bill) Adams on August 30, 1997. From 2001 to 2013, she served as the
Staff Field Coordinator for Youth for Understanding (YFU) where she enjoyed working with
many host families and foreign exchange students. For over 12 years, she and Bill delighted in
hosting numerous foreign exchange students. Shirley was an active member of the Muleshoe
Ex-Student Association.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her aunt and uncle; her siblings Peggy White and
James Howell.

Shirley is survived by her husband Bill of Slaton, daughter, Shonda (Eldon) Whitworth of
Lubbock, son Jimmy (Esmerelda) Savage of Laredo, TX, step-daughters, Amy (Jayson) Kitchens
of Lexington Park, MD, and Kay Lynn Adams of Lubbock; brother, Dewayne (Nancy) Holland of
Lancaster, KY, sister, Latoyia (Jim) Sawyer of Arlington, AZ, sister, Anita (Leon) Gibbs of
Alvarado, TX, brother, Ray (Sharon) Holland of Brownwood, TX, brother, Randell (Carey) of
Mullin, TX, brother, Preston (Lisa) Holland of Midland, TX, and sisters, Lena (Jerry) Day of
Brownwood, and Amy Holland of Brownwood; grandchildren, Stephen Whitworth, Chase Whitworth, Jonathan Savage, James Roy Smith, Justin Robert Smith, Brennen Adams, Reagan Adams, Charlotte Kitchens, Emma
Kitchens, and great grandchildren, Jason Smith, John Smith, Jacob Smith, and May Smith.
