Stephen Howard, 50, of Lubbock, passed away Saturday, December 3, 2022.
Viewing will be 11:00 am- 6:00 pm Tuesday, December 6, 2022 with a visitation following from 6:00-7:00 pm at Englunds. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 am Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at Indiana Baptist Church in Lubbock. Interment will be in Englewood Cemetery in Slaton. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.
Stephen was born September 2, 1972 in Independence, Missouri to Louis and Ellon Howard. Stephen grew up in Shallowater. He began electrical work, very young with his father and continued in the field right out of high school, earning his Journeyman’s license. Stephen then attended and graduated from Wayland Baptist University in Lubbock. He was ordained as a minister at Skyline Baptist church. He pastored churches in Texas. He later learned his Master Electrician’s license. He taught at Texas Career Trade School for about 5 years before going to work for Texas Tech. Stephen worked at Tech for the past 14 years, he was a big part of setting up the Carol of Lights. He married Simone’ Gutierrez on November 10, 2009 in Lubbock. He was member of Indiana Baptist Church where he also taught Sunday school. He had read through the Bible at least 10 times. Stephen was passionate about learning and teaching and was a voracious reader.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his uncle, Macky McMillian.
Stephen is survived by his wife, Simone’ Howard of Lubbock; his sons, Jacob and Caleb Howard, both of Lubbock; his daughters, Sloane and Rachel Meier and Hannah Howard, all of Lubbock; and his granddaughter, Jenna Whitewick.
