Zachariah “Zach” Leonard, 40, of Slaton, went back home to be with The Lord on Friday, September 13, 2024.A Memorial Service will be at 2pm on November 2, at Englunds Chapel. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.
Zach was born on March 12, 1984, in El Paso to a wonderful couple, Daniel and Mary Leonard.
Instead of starting out by talking about his professional life like services generally do, the family wanted to open with how much of a remarkable soul Zach was, and the loving impact he made on so many people he came in contact with.
Zach was electric. Couldn’t sit still. Always on the go. Whether he was cooking, bowling, rebuilding a diesel engine, feeding horses, grilling, laughing with friends (especially at the lake), fixing things around the house or spending time with his favorite person in the world—his little Sister, he was ALL IN. Zach’s relationships with his family and his friends will carry on forever because of the love he showed for them. There’s definitely only 1 Zach. And he will never be replaced.
Professionally, Zach always worked. He worked throughout school, graduating from Midland Lee in 2002, and became a very well known automobile body work professional. He then took that knowledge and became a very well known insurance adjuster—he was amazing at it… he was amazing at anything he set his mind to.
When the family moved to Slaton several years ago, he began working at Slaton Monument where he obviously excelled as well. His designing of Mac Davis’ monument may be his favorite. Such a smart guy and never arrogant about it—just like his Dad.
Zach loved helping on family farms, and the happiest up on a tractor. He couldn’t get enough of it, absolutely loved it. If he could’ve, he would done it year-round.
Zach is survived by his parents, Daniel and Mary Leonard of Slaton; his sister, Jaclyn Scroggins and her husband, Derek, of Frisco; his brother, Jed Leonard of Slaton; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
